Grandma Max

I gave this poem to my Mom (Denise) on Mother's Day several years ago and she told me that it was one of Grandma Max's favorites. Making it extra special to my Mom. I've always love these lines and to start us off I thought I'd share:

Serenity
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next.
Amen.

  1. This is perfect to begin our Blogging Experience. Grandma Max was a "little but mighty". In doing some research, trying to find someone to trek in honor of this summer I found a blog of Hannah Jane Shaw Burridge, Grandma Maxfield's Great Great Grandmother. After reading this I realized what kind of heritage I came from.... if you get time to read it is well worth the 1/2 hour or so.
